Popular Taiwanese website DigiTimes reports that Apple has apparently cancelled the orders it placed for 1.25-2 million units of iPad 3 in the third quarted, and 5-6 million in the fourth quarter. According to the report Apple has terminated these orders and has delayed the launch of iPad 3 with 2,048 by 1,536 resolution due to some display issues.
The sources believe that the yield rate of the 9.7-inch panel that feature resolution of 2,048 by 1,536 may be the major reason of the supply delay since such panels are mainly supplied by Japan-based Sharp with a high price and Apple’s other supply partners Samsung Electronics and LG Display are both unable to reach a good yield.
Although this report claims that the orders have been cancelled, there was no solid proof even prior to this report about whether or not these orders actually existed in the first place.
iPad 3 is rumored to feature better processor, more RAM, and 2,048 X 1,536 Retina Display and more.
